How Bill Skarsgard Mastered His Voice as Pennywise in ‘IT’ | Daily Celebrity News | Splash TV

Bill Skarsgard is now a household name thanks
to his performance in the hit horror remake of “It,” and now he’s able to reveal
some of the ways he made Pennywise such a nightmare on screen. First lesson: Mastering his character’s
voice. Skarsgard tells Variety’s Playback podcast
how he came up with the creepy sounds… He says, “The voice for me sort of started
out with a laugh… I was playing around with a laugh, but on
the verge of a panic attack and crying at the same time. When I started doing it just by myself, I
started to creep myself out.” Considering Skarsgard’s character is more
of a monster or demon than an actual human or real clown, he reportedly wanted to make
his laugh sound otherworldly. According to the Thrillist, Skarsgard also
has a natural ability to smile like a, quote, “complete psychopath,” so that was also
easily achievable for the actor. Safe to say Skarsgard’s voice as Pennywise
will be haunting fans dreams for a long time.

  2. What makes Tim Curry's Pennywise far more frightening is the fact that he seemed like an evil human being in a clown costume. Skarsgard's portrayal looked more like a runway model wearing guy-liner, and his voice is entirely too put-on and dramatic. It didn't come off as natural. Tim Curry's Pennywise is the very reason people fear clowns – and that's because he played it like a deranged human, someone you might see at a circus who you look at and just think, "that dude isn't right in the head." Clowns aren't supposed to be pretty or handsome, and Skarsgard's is too manicured. Sorry, youngsters. You like Skarsgard's clown because you think he (the actor) is attractive – and that's NOT the clown represented in Stephen King's novel.

  3. For fuck sakes guys how many times! IT is not a remake!!! Its an adaptation of the book not a remake of the miniseries!

  4. I feel like people forced the whole thing about him being scary as pennywise, it was a shitty performance

  5. Am I the only one who finds that Pennywise is hotter than Bill? 😂😂

    I'm kidding… Both are hot 🔥🤣❤️

  6. I wonder what can make a wealthy, young, good looking person with a prosper life and bright future, get to the point of "panic/crying". Probably just getting into the character and nothing more, getting involved with the character purpose made him have that reaction. (because panic attacks are for depressed/unemployed/stressed/addict etc people. That is quite intriguing because he seems the opposite of everything that can cause that.

  7. IT didn't scare me one bit. I just thought it was an awesome film set in the 80's. Now let's talk the 1st Conjuring. That scared me
